MindLink Signs the Armed Forces Covenant

MindLink Signs the Armed Forces Covenant

At MindLink, we operate in environments shaped by those who serve.

Across defence, national security, and government, the people using our platform work in conditions where trust, clarity, and reliability are not optional — they are fundamental to mission success. That reality shapes how we think about technology, and the responsibilities that come with building it.

As a secure, federated collaboration platform purpose-built for mission environments, our role is not just to deliver capability, but to support the people operating within these environments.

MindLink is a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant and intends to apply for the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.

What the Armed Forces Covenant Represents

The Armed Forces Covenant is a commitment to ensure that those who serve, or have served, in the armed forces — and their families — are treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy, and workplace.

It reflects a simple principle: those who contribute to national security should not be disadvantaged because of their service.

Why This Matters to Us

For us, this is not a symbolic step.

Many of the organisations we support operate in mission-critical environments where the realities of service — operational pressure, mobility, and security constraints — are part of daily life. Understanding that context — and how experience translates into practice — is essential to building technology that people trust and can rely on.

Signing the Armed Forces Covenant reflects that alignment.

It reinforces our belief that:

  • Technology serving defence and national security must be built with an understanding of the people behind the mission
  • Trust is earned through consistent delivery, not messaging
  • Supporting the armed forces community extends beyond the systems we build

What This Means in Practice

Our commitment to the Covenant is grounded in action.

This includes:

  • Supporting veterans and service leavers through employment opportunities
  • Recognising the transferable skills they bring and applying that experience in practice
  • Supporting reservists and acknowledging the realities of service commitments
  • Promoting the Covenant internally and building awareness across the organisation
  • Creating an environment that supports transition into civilian roles, including flexible and hybrid working

As we continue to grow, this will remain part of how we operate — not separate from it — including our intention to progress through the Employer Recognition Scheme.

A Perspective from Experience

We spoke with Tom Apps, Engineering Director at MindLink and British Army Veteran, about what this kind of commitment means in practice:

“Those who serve make a commitment. The Armed Forces Covenant is a commitment in return — and from a service perspective, that means a great deal. Following through on that commitment is just as important.”

“What makes a difference isn’t just saying you support veterans — it’s showing that you value their experience and how those skills apply in practice.”

“The challenge isn’t the experience itself — it’s helping people understand how the skills developed in service translate into a different environment.”

Part of a Broader Commitment

Our work sits at the intersection of secure collaboration, interoperability, and operational effectiveness.

Signing the Armed Forces Covenant is part of a broader approach — ensuring that both the technology we build and the organisation behind it are aligned with the environments we serve.

Because supporting mission-critical operations starts with understanding the people at the centre of them.
